Small Business Saturday: Tips & Tricks


There’s one day you don’t want to miss if you’re a small business with big goals for the future!

You might have guessed, Small Business Saturday.

It’s taking place on November 24, 2018 – a day founded by American Express to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Join organizations across the country in supporting your local small business. Whether you’re holiday shopping on the day or promoting your own store, you’ll want to know these tips and tricks for a successful Saturday.

Be prepared for the 24th with a FAST credit card terminal for the influx of shoppers! We recommend the clover station. It’s reliable and allows you to run reports, track inventory, and simplify bookkeeping. It’s even cloud based, allowing you to remotely manage your business from all devices.

Shoppers:

  • Now that over 1.5 million more places in the U.S. started accepting American Express® Cards in 2017, it’s never been easier to find nearby small businesses where you can use your Card, #ShopSmall, and support your community. (americanexpress.com)

  • The SBA (Small Business Administration) recommends that you find participating businesses in your area with the American Express Shop Small Map. Simply plug in your address and a list of local businesses will appear. You’re guaranteed to use your card at these locations!

  • Spread the word to friends and family on social media. Share event pages and any plans you might have to shop small! Make a day out of it and explore all the stores you might not have been to otherwise.

Small Business Owners:

  • Rally your community by becoming a “neighborhood champion” It’s a great way to get involved in the local economy. You’ll reach out to encourage businesses in your area to participate in events, spread the word about the importance of shopping small, and organize a community event to bring everyone together!
