We were thrilled to speak with Meredith Longo, Director of Marketing & Public Relations about how they’ve become such a success since they opened their first curtain.
Can you tell us about the theatres journey since opening in 2009?
“Playhouse on Park is in it's 10th Anniversary Season. We are a 501 c3 non-profit professional theater, boasting an intimate space (similar to a blackbox theater) that seats 160 people. It has been our goal from day one to provide affordable Broadway quality theater to the greater Hartford community and beyond, acting as an establishment where our guests - from subscribers to first-timers - feel like family.
We also believe in arts education, and provide an array of classes for both adults and children. Playhouse on Park was founded by Executive Director, Tracy Flater, as well as Co-Artistic Directors, Sean Harris and Darlene Zoller.”
Biggest challenge you faced as a business owner?
“Since day one of owning our small business, we've faced our fair share of challenges
- from establishing ourselves as a professional theater, to generating ticket sales. We definitely wouldn't be where we are today without - among many things - the help of our volunteers! Their energy and belief in our mission is what helps keep us going as a business!”
Best part about working with PayHub?
“We use Payhub for our credit card operating system. We love our Payhub rep, Dan Robbins! He's been so helpful for us. Being a relatively young company means we really benefit from having him as a resource. The customer service is truly top notch.”
What’s one goal you have for PlayHouse in 2019?
“One of our goals for 2019 is to grow our Main Stage Series subscriber base. We are thankful to those who have been with us since day one, or who have joined us along the way. Despite our being around for 10 years, we still have new friends and faces that come through our doors, and we'd love for them to be a part of our family by supporting us all season long.”
