Client Spotlight: Playhouse on Park
It isn't very often that you come across a professional theater that is also non-profit, but that's what you'll find in Playhouse on Park, which was founded in the summer of 2009 by Tracy Flater, Executive Director, and Sean Harris and Darlene Zoller, Co-Artistic Directors. Since day one, the goal of Playhouse on Park has been to provide the Greater Hartford community with quality and professional entertainment at an affordable cost.
Playhouse on Park boasts an intimate theater where the parking is free, the actors are right off Broadway, and the back row is just four seats from the stage!
"We have built a strong subscriber base for our Mainstage Series and Comedy Night Series, which features critically acclaimed stand-up comedians from around the country. Since art appreciation knows no age limits, we also have a Young Audience Series starring adult actors that bring children's classics to life. We are also proud to call stop/time dance theater our resident dance company.
We have set ourselves apart not only as a destination for taking in a show, but also as a resource for those who are cultivating their own talents related to theater. The Playwrights on Park Reading Series cultivates innovative original work by showcasing local playwrights. Our Education Department boasts acting and musical theater classes for children as young as elementary age through high school. We even have improv classes for adults!
We love providing our community with affordable access to the arts and theater. We also love being able to provide employment opportunities for actors, entertainers, musicians, and creative types."
